The obverse features the traditional Australian effigy of her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. On the reverse, the design of a dragon and phoenix are seen circulating a flaming pearl, this image is one steeped in traditional Chinese culture. Each creature embodies a part of the Yin & Yang. The dragon (Yang) represents strength, good fortune and transformation, while the phoenix depicts the yin and represents virtue and grace. The flaming pearl between them represents wisdom.
